Initial Visit

An Initial Comprehensive visit is for all new patients. It includes a complete physical examination, a review of the patient’s past medical history, family history, and a discussion of current problems. These visits individualize the comprehensive care for each new patient.

Routine Health Maintenance

Routine Health Maintenance visits are scheduled for regular intervals. Lasting an average of thirty minutes, these visits allow time for immunization, routine screening tests, an evaluation of growth and development, a screening exam for the detection of developing physical problems, and a discussion of anticipated needs and adjustments. As time permits, other problems may also be handled in these visits. Appointments for these visits need to be scheduled several months in advance. This will help avoid having sick children and well children in the office at the same time by reserving certain times of the day for each.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends this schedule for routine well-care visits:

  • 1 month
  • 2 months
  • 4 months
  • 6 months
  • 9 months
  • 12 months
  • 15 months
  • 18 months
  • 24 months
  • 30 months
  • 3 years
  • yearly thereafter

Immunizations

We recommend that all children receive a complete schedule of vaccinations. These will be provided during the Routine Health Maintenance exams. Additional information regarding immunizations can be found here

Sick or Problem Visit

Sick or Problem appointments can usually be made the day the need arises. Some problems require more extensive evaluation than others, so when making a "sick-visit" appointment please briefly explain the nature of the problem to the receptionist.

Laboratory Tests

If needed, laboratory tests are performed during both well and sick child visits. Some of these tests can be performed in the office and others must be obtained through a private laboratory or a hospital. Tests performed within the office not only save parent's time, but also allow the doctor to examine the specimens directly, and therefore, see the results sooner. Sometimes insurance companies require that lab work be done at a specific laboratory or they will not cover the costs. It is the parent's responsibility to see that the tests are performed at the correct laboratory. We do not have the equipment necessary to perform x-rays on site.

Ear Piercing

We use a state of the art, sterile ear-piercing system for children over the age of 2 months.

Clinical Advice

We are always here to help. We employ pediatric Registered Nurses to answer any questions and provide advice. Please call the office at (303)442-2913 and give the receptionist your contact information and a brief description of your concern. The nurse will return your call as quickly as possible. You may also log a question for the nurse on our secure patient portal.

After Hours Assistance

Help for immediate problems is available 24 hours a day/365 days a year. We contract with Registered Nurses at Children's Hospital of Colorado for after hours advice. For help after hours, please call our main number (303-442-2913) and press 6 to be connected to our answering service. The person answering the phone will take your information and have the appropriate person return your call. If your concern is great enough, please ask to have the doctor on call contacted immediately.

Behavioral Health

The providers at The Pediatric Center work closely with the behavioral and mental health providers in our community. We will assist our patient families to find the very best mental health provider for them and will work to ensure that the many facets of care are well coordinated.
