Dr. Heather Mittiga is an experienced pediatrician who started practicing in Cincinnati 2005 but was drawn to our mountains and relocated to Boulder in 2019.
Dr. Mittiga's initial love of the mountains began as a child, visiting the Rockies to ski and hike, and grew during her undergraduate years in Vermont. Dr. Mittiga is an Ohio native and completed her medical training at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. There, she fell in love with pediatrics and met her future husband. Together, they moved to Pittsburgh to complete residency training at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. In 2005, they returned to Ohio to work on fellowships at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. She trained in pediatric hematology and oncology.
In 2007, after the birth of her twins, Dr. Mittiga sought a better work-life balance. She changed gears and began practicing primary care pediatrics…and to her surprise she loved it. She hasn’t looked back since and can’t imagine doing any other job. Now as the mom of five wonderful and busy kids, she often draws on her parenting experience and blends it with her knowledge of up to date medicine.
Dr Mittiga enjoys the active lifestyle, beauty and connection to nature that the community of Boulder offers for her and her family. She is a frequent volunteer in her children’s schools and enjoys coaching youth sports. She and her family love sports of all kinds and when they’re not playing them, they can be found cheering on their favorite college and pro teams. Her hobbies also include skiing, hiking, cooking and travel.
Dr. Mittiga challenges both parents and patients to be an active part of their wellness. She prides herself on developing and maintaining long lasting, close, personal relationships with patients and their families, and assures them that she will both compassionately and expertly meet their medical needs.
